<Ft. Lauderdale (March 18) – The Virginia H. Farah Foundation has made a multi-year commitment to fund a new Development office for Orthodox Christian Network (OCN).

The purpose of this grant is to help OCN establish an Office of Development for the media outreach arm of the Standing Conference of Orthodox Bishops in the Americas (SCOBA). This new development office will work with other foundations and individual donors to fully fund the media outreach ministry for the Orthodox Christian churches in this nation.

The grant allows OCN to hire a full time Director of Development and to secure the services of Stewardship Advocates of New York, a full service donor development agency headed by well respected stewardship expert, Fr. Anthony Scott. Rev. Scott will work with the new Director of Development at OCN.

Rev. Dr. Christopher Metropulos, founder and Executive Director of OCN, states that this generous grant from the Farah Foundation goes a long way in helping OCN create and sustain a much needed media presence for the Orthodox Christian churches. It is precisely this 'missing voice of Orthodoxy" that OCN was created to address in American society. Farah Foundation Director Eric Namee states 'The Farah Foundation is committed to supporting Orthodox outreach efforts that have proven themselves effective in sharing the Orthodox faith with a wider number of people. We are also convinced that OCN and its media outreach are much needed tools to assist and support the local parish in their work to share the faith with their local communities.

The Foundation was established in 1983 to support the Orthodox Christian Church's witness to America and assist disadvantaged children through Orthodox Christian Service organizations.

OCN's premier radio program, Come Receive The Light, is heard in twenty cities across the nation, and is the only Orthodox Christian radio program distributed by satellite nationwide. The half hour program is also heard worldwide on the ministry's web site www.receive.org and has listeners as far away as New Zealand and Greece.

Orthodox Christian Network is headquartered in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and is a member of the National Religious Broadcasters. Visit us at www.receive.org.
