Celebrates with 4 Big Days of Greek Hospitality
St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway

PISCATAWAY, NJ – St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1101 River Road, Piscataway, announces its 42st Annual Greek Festival, taking place May 14 - 17, 2015. For the first time ever, the Festival begins on Thursday this year. Hours of operation are Thursday, 4 PM – 10 PM, Friday, 11 AM – 11:30 PM; Saturday, 11 AM – 12:30 AM, and Sunday, 12 – 8 PM. The 42st Anniversary of this Festival commemorates the longest-running Greek Festival in the state of New Jersey. This annual event attracts thousands of people each year for homemade Greek food, live music, traditional Greek Folk Dancing, as well as Church tours and cultural information.

The Greek Festival has grown immensely popular over the last 42 years - so much so that a fourth day (Thursday) has been added. Live music, singers, six community Greek folk dance groups, souvlakia, gyros, and Greek pastries are a few of the amenities one can enjoy in our air- conditioned community center. The outdoor Taverna, Take-Out Booth, Bakery, and Gift Shops also return in 2015. Master Card and Discover Card accepted. Free parking and shuttle service is available at the Church and Rutgers Stadium. Patrons wishing to order take-out by email may do so by sending their orders to: Greek.Festival@comcast.net. Please include a contact name and phone number with each order, and allow 10 minutes for pick up.

Each year, the parish of St. George, Piscataway, works together to host the Festival and bring its well-known "Greek Hospitality" to the community. The event is currently a staple in Piscataway Township and Middlesex County, and is one of the largest Greek Festivals in the state of New Jersey. “We have much pride in our Greek heritage, and look forward to coming together each year to share it with our visitors and patrons,” said Festival Chair George Athanasopoulos. “We prepare in advance so that our patrons have the best experience possible. There is a reason we are the best Greek Festival in New Jersey!”

When the Festival began in 1973, it hosted a few thousand visitors over the three-day weekend; today over 15,000 visitors attend this annual event. This Central Jersey tradition is known for its warm hospitality, enthusiastic volunteers and delicious homemade Greek food and pastries. The recipes used have been passed down for several generations within our community, and are a testament to the connection we have to our Greek heritage. "Our Festival Committee takes pride year in and year out to provide the best Greek Festival atmosphere. We evaluate how we can make our festival better annually. This has been the secret to our success,” said Athanasopoulos.

Proceeds from the 42st Annual Greek Festival assists St. George Church, Piscataway in continuing its cultural and community programming. The members of this century-old community look forward to extending our famous Greek hospitality and show why St. George Greek Festival in Piscataway is New Jersey’s best and longest running Greek Festival! We look forward to seeing everyone on May 14th, 15th, 16th, and 17th!
