Catherine Tsounis






Catherine Tsounis is an Adjunct Professor of Modern Greek in the Languages and Literature Department of St. John's University in New York. Her past professional teaching experience incudes a position as Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Computer Science at SUNY in Long Island, as well as posts teaching secondary-level social studies, science, English, and Greek in New York. She has also founded the Hellenic Culture School at the Transfiguration of Christ Church in Mattituck, L.I. and the Greek/ESL Adult Basic Education Auxiliary Services for high schools at JHS 10 in Astoria, NY, both of which continue to serve the needs of their respective communities.

Professor Tsounis also serves as a Greek translator for national agencies and the Board of Education of New York City.

Articles and photographs taken by her have appeared in numerous national and international publications since 1970. among them the National Herald, Bayside Times, Courier, Queens ChronicleWestern Queens Gazette, Tribune, Suffolk Times, Island Traveler, and Suffolk Times newspapers. She is also a contributing editor of the Hellenic TImes and Estiator publications.

Professor Tsounis is a member of a number of professional organizations and societies and has received community service awards from Transfiguration of Christ Church, the National PTA, and the William Spyropoulos PTA.
