Deacon Spiro Bobotas, Producer of Come Receive the Light National Orthodox Christian Radio Program, to Be Ordained



Ft. Lauderdale (May 25) – Fr. Christopher Metropulos, founder and director of Orthodox Christian Network, and pastor of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Ft. Lauderdale, FL announced today that Deacon Spiro Bobotas, long time producer of the national Orthodox Christian radio program Come Receive The Light, will be ordained to the Orthodox Christian priesthood on Sunday, June 18th, Father’s Day in the United States and the Feast of All Saints on the Orthodox Christian calendar.


Dn. Spiro Bobotas received B.S. Degree in Business Administration from the Whittemore School of Business at the University of New Hampshire, Durham in 1983 and a Masters Degree in Divinity from the Holy Cross School of Theology in 1999. As a Youth Director, Spiro led the Youth Ministries of 60 parishes most notably as the Camp Director for Boston Diocese Camp. In January of 2001 Spiro moved from his native New Hampshire to join Orthodox Christian Network to further development this media outreach for the Orthodox Church. He served as the Associate Director for 4 + years.

Ordained to the Deaconate in January of 2005 Dn. Spiro continues to serve the community of Saint Demetrios and along with his pastoral duties, Dn. Spiro maintains his roll as the producer of Come Receive The Light, The National media outreach of SCOBA (Standing Conference of Orthodox Bishops in the Americas). The ordination will be conducted by His Eminence, Metropolitan ALEXIOS of Atlanta (GOA) and will be broadcast live on the ministry’s web site – http://www.receive.org.
