Richard E. Clairmont, Ph.D.






Dr. Clairmont is currently Assistant Professor of Classics in the Languages, LIteratures, and Cultures Department of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of New Hampshire. He completed his doctorate at Loyola University at Chicago,in1983. His research and teaching interests are Prose Composition, Poetics, Greek Tragedy, Grammar, Sanskrit, and Modern Greek.

Dr. Clairmont has been active in professional and community organizations, serving as an officer and president of the New Hampshire Classical Association, a member of the Strafford County Greco-Roman Society, an officer of the Classical Association of New England. Recently he served on the executive board of the Christos and Mary Papoutsy Distinguished Chair in Ethics at Southern New Hampshire University, and has served as an officer in Hellenic Society Paideia, Inc. of New Hampshire, on the board for the John C. Rouman Classical Lecture Series in New Hampshire, and in the New England District of the Phi Beta Kappa Society.
