Philanthropic Efforts Honored; Orchestra Receives Standing Ovation

Manchester, NH--On Saturday, May 18, 2002, St George Greek Orthodox Cathedral hosted a successful annual evening dinner-dance at its facility in Manchester. A capacity crowd dined on sumptuous Greek cuisine and pastries and listened with great enthusiasm to the sophisticated sounds of the 25-piece Hellenic and Near Eastern Musical Society Orchestra. Led by former Cathedral parishioner Christos Papoutsy, the orchestra received a standing ovation for its fine musical contribution to the affair.

Current parish president and chairman of the event, Mr. George Copadis, presented Mr. and Mrs. Papoutsy with a plaque, on behalf of the entire cathedral community, honoring their "philanthropic and dedicated service to promoting and preserving the Greek Orthodox culture and heritage."
