ΣΥΝΑΝΤΗΣΗ ΜΕ ΤΟΝ ΜΕΣΟΛΑΒΗΤΗ ΤΟΥ ΟΗΕ

κ. ΜΑΘΙΟΥ ΝΙΜΙΤΣ ΣΤΗ ΝΥ

Τις τελευταίες εξελίξεις, όπως αυτές διαμορφώθηκαν μετά την πρόσφατη πρόταση για την διευθέτηση της οριστικής ονομασίας του κρατιδίου της πΓΔΜ, εξέτασαν σε συνάντησή τους την περασμένη Παρασκευή (13 Μαίου 2005) η ηγεσία της Παμμακεδονικής Ενώσεως ΗΠΑ με τον μεσολαβητή του ΟΗΕ κ. Ματθαίο Νίμιτζ.

Οι Μακεδόνες ηγέτες επεσήμαναν στον κ. Νίμιτζ ότι «για να εμπεδωθεί μονίμως η ειρήνη στα Βαλκάνια, η οριστική λύση στο πρόβλημα του ονόματος πρέπει να βασίζεται στην δικαιοσύνη, στην ιστορική αλήθεια και στους διεθνείς νόμους. Σε κάθε άλλη περίπτωση η λύση θα είναι θνησιγενής και αντί της ειρήνης, με μαθηματική ακρίβεια, θα συμβάλει στην αποσταθεροποίηση της ευρύτερης περιοχής».

Η συνάντηση υπήρξε εποικοδομητική και για τις δύο πλευρές, καθώς εξετάσθηκαν όλες οι πτυχές του χρόνιου αυτού προβλήματος, διήρκησε μία ώρα και πραγματοποιήθηκε σε εγκάρδιο κλίμα αμοιβαίας κατανοήσεως.

The Pan-Macedonian Association was founded in 1947 with the goal of uniting all the Macedonian societies of the United States. It is a nationwide membership organization for Greek Americans whose origins are from Macedonia, Greece. The organization promotes the culture, language, history and traditions of Macedonia and Promotes charitable projects and works to benefit the region and its people.
