On Friday, June 9 (8pm) and Sunday, June 11 (5pm), Grigornis Maninakis and his Mikrokosmos Ensemble will present a not-to-be missed musical tribute to the two great rebetika masters, Markos Vamvakaris and Vasilis Tsitsanis.
Both concerts are sponsored by the Hellenic Cultural Center of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and will take place at the theatre of the Cultural Center at 27-09 Crescent Street (and Newtown Rd.) in Astoria.
Along with singer Grigoris Maninakis, other musicians contributing to this special musical experience will be bouzouki virtuoso Christos Psarros, Kostas Psarros, bouzouki/tzoura, Glafkos Kontemeniotis on keyboards, George Hadjimarkou, guitar/vocals, and Spiros Arnakis, drums/percussion. Stelios Taketzis of Cosmos FM will be the narrator.
This same program was recently presented with acclaimed success at Stamford Connecticut, where it was sponsored by the local AHEPA Chapter.
