Perform at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church
in Cambridge, MA

The parish of St. Sava and Serbian community of Greater Boston are proud to present a benefit concert by Balkan Strings Trio, an internationally acclaimed ensemble from Serbia consisting of father Zoran Starcevic and his two sons Nikola and Jeljko.

This event, which promises to offer an exciting presentation of the rich and diverse musical heritage of the Balkans, will take place at the Hall of St.Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Cambridge on Saturday, July 15 at 7:30pm. Balkan Strings Trio won First Prize and the Dolphin statue for being the best instrumental ensemble on the Music World Festival - 2004 Internacionale Fivizzano in Italy.

The composition “Water-mill”, written by Nikola Starcevic and performed by Balkan Strings Trio, was the First Prize winner in the World category of the USA Songwriting Competition of 2005.

The Trio has performed in many festivals and concerts in Serbia, Bosnia, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Greece, Turkey and Russia. In July of 2006, the Trio will perform concerts in Boston and New York.

Balkan Strings Trio performs its original instrumental music which is a fusion of traditional Balkan rhythms and melodies, jazz improvisations, and stunning virtuoso technique. The result is rich and unconventional, fresh and spontaneous, brimming with energy. Some say, “their music is like a handmade rug, colorful and full of beautiful ornaments”.
