Jennie Kakos Passes Away |

She was born in Bath Jan. 30, 1917, a daughter of Greek immigrants Spilious and Theodora Houpis Kakos. She helped raise her four younger siblings after the death of her mother. She worked in the family businesses Boston Fruit, South End Fruit and Kakos' Store in Bath. She later managed the family store with her brother, John, until 1979. She graduated from Morse High School in 1935. She enjoyed playing school basketball. She enjoyed cooking meals and Greek and other pastries. She was predeceased by brothers, John and Nicholas, and a nephew, Morton Kakos. Survivors include two sisters, Bessie Kakos and Aret Poulos and her husband, Daniel, all of Bath; a sister-in-law, Frances Kakos of Bath; two nephews, Stephen Poulos of Windham and Nicholas Kakos Jr. of Bath; two nieces, Lani Flaherty of Bath and Nancy Boucher and her husband, Stephen, of Portland; a great-nephew, Patrick Flaherty of Bath; and two great-nieces, Katherine and Christine Boucher of Portland. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mayo, Curtis and Hill Funeral Home in Bath. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Grace Episcopal Church, Washington Street, Bath. Memorial donations may be made to the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital, P.O.
